Vacation

Sara and I went on our first vacation in a very long time. We took a drive all the way to Prince Edward Island in Canada. This was a 15 hour drive so on the way up, we stayed overnight in Bangor, Maine and continued the drive to Canada the next day. On the way home we just drove the 15 hours straight (which was brutal but so worth it, as we got home around midnight and crashed on our own bed with the cat there to purrrrrr us to sleep!)

There were many beautiful scenes along our loooooong drives to and from Canada but there were two in particular I decided to post about. the first was the Lumber trucks. For some reason, once we made it out of New York, Lumber trucks just kept haunting us. They were everywhere from Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine and all they way into New Brunswick Canada! This is weird because there's a funny story about Lumber in the family as it is pronounced in a very unique way by one person.

One of the many Lumber trucks we saw on our journey.

The second thing I wanted to post about was the Bridge! Sure, there were quite a few bridges we crossed on our way up to Canada but there was one in particular that stands out. It's called the Confederation Bridge and it's very beautiful. The design is simple but the bridge is over 4 miles long and is the only road connecting Prince Edward Island Province from Mainland Canada. Going onto the island we didn't pay attention to much except the scenery and of course traffic. So, when we were leaving it came as quite a shock to see that the bill totalled $42.50 to go back over the bridge on our way home. Even in Canadian dollars this is a lot but we only had $20 of $30 in Canadian left so, we had to use our US currency on Par as it was not possible to exchange the currency at the toll. This was a shock but when we calculated how much flights would have been, it was still better than flying to the island and luckily the rest of the tolls home didn't even add up to $20. The rental car was great on gas so filling up wasn't that bad either.

Confederation Bridge from the New Brunswick side.

When all was said and done, the vacation was great! We desperately needed some time off of work and Prince Edward Island was so beautiful. The people were nice, the food was great and it was just great to be away form it all. even our cell phones were off the whole time! It's great to be home but it would be nice to have stayed a few more days. Who knows, maybe we'll go there again some day. I'll try to post more on the vacation later and post more pics.
