Fainting Girl......

This story was posted on Worldnetdaily.com. The girl in the picture collapses every time she laughs. I wish there were a video! Maybe Sister Jenny can find it?

SHE looks like any other student with her life ahead of her - happy, relaxed and without a care in the world.
But 20-year-old Kay Underwood could be paralysed if she gets a fit of the giggles. The pretty architecture student, from Barrow upon Soar, Leicestershire, has cataplexy, which is a sudden weakening of the muscles brought on by strong emotions. In Miss Underwood’s case, laughter is the cause, but other known triggers are excitement, anger and, in at least one bizarre case, smugness. On one day alone, the University of Lincoln student collapsed some 40 times before she lost count.“I don’t think there’s a single person who has not tried to make me laugh,” she said.“People in town who have seen me collapse with my friends laughing, think I am doing it as a joke. A lot of people don’t know about the condition.

“There are times when it does get to me, if something embarrassing happens. I am only 20. I hang around with a lot of people. Sometimes there’s not a way out of it.“But I have learnt a few tricks, like locking my knees together or grabbing on to something. Sometimes my friends grab on to me.”Her medical condition also includes narcolepsy, which leaves her prone to sudden bouts of sleepiness. It is thought about 75 per cent of patients with narcolepsy have cataplexy. However, a referral to Leicester General Hospital’s sleep disorders service and a course of medication has seen Miss Underwood’s condition improve. She now hopes to retrieve the driving licence she was forced to surrender.
